Charity Plans for 2020

Why We Donate to the CFT

The Cystic Fibrosis Trust holds a very special place in the hearts of our employees. It’s very close to us because Print Strategy Director, Paul Newton, received the devastating news that his daughter has been diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis. So, we do all we can to help and support this charity and raise awareness.

What is Cystic Fibrosis?

Cystic Fibrosis is a genetic condition that affects over 10,500 people in the UK. One in 25 of us carry the “faulty” gene that causes Cystic Fibrosis, most without knowing we do so. The gene affected by Cystic Fibrosis controls the movement of salt and water in and out of the cells in the body causing a sticky mucus build up in the digestive system, lungs and other organs. This sticky mucus can cause a wide range of challenging symptoms across the entire body. You are diagnosed at birth from the heel prick test and treatment can vary from person to person. Visit the Cystic Fibrosis Trust here to find out more.

What we did in 2019

Last year we had a target of £9000, which we absolutely smashed!! With the help of donations (a massive thank you to all of you who donated), the directors cycled across Portugal (read more here) and our employees donate money every Friday to come in casual clothes. The full total amount we raised was an outstanding £15,608.56.

This year we are going even bigger!!! Here’s how:

  • We will continue donating if you would like to make a donation please click here to do so.
  • Donate on recommendations. Do you use PSE and are pleased with our services? Then why not recommend another company who may benefit from using PSE. If you do so we will donate £50 to either a charity of your choice or the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
  • The directors and some employees will be partaking in the Birmingham Velo ride which is a 100 mile course around the west midlands in one day. Find out more here.
  • Some people are doing a sponsored walk up (and hopefully back down) Snowdon. It’s a staggering 3560 feet hike to the top of Snowdon.
  • Then later in the year a couple of employees will quite literally be taking a leap of faith…… Out of a plane! Skydiving from 10,000 feet!
  • In September we are doing not one but TWO abseils. One from 400 feet off the top of a building then the second from 120 feet into the Devil’s Gorge.
  • Plus, any more ways that we can think of to scare the life out of us.

So please watch this space. We will keep you updated on how we do. Like we said the Cystic Fibrosis Trust is close to our hearts and any donations are greatly appreciated. Again if you can spare anything you can donate here

A huge thanks from all the PSE family.
